Citriodiol®
Camo® is made from Citriodiol® - Nature's most effective insect repellent. It is a natural, plant-based insect repellent effective against mosquitoes, ticks, flies, midges and other insects and arthropods.
Nature's insect repellent
Camo is steam distilled from the oil of the Eucalyptus citriodora tree and enhanced through a simple conversion process that accelerates nature’s own maturation of the citriodora leaf.
The Eucalyptus citriodora oil is enriched into Citriodiol® by converting the naturally occurring citronellal (not to be confused with the far less effective citronella) into p-methane-3,8-diol (PMD).
The Sciency Bit
- The Eucalyptus Citriodora Oil is enriched into Citriodiol® by converting the naturally occurring citronellal into p-methane-3,8-diol (PMD), the CAMO® formula.
- This dramatically increases the level of repellency of the oil.
- Making it far superior to standard essential oils.
- The higher the PMD = The higher the repellency factor.
Essential Oils V Camo Formula
- Our converted Oil of Lemon Ecualyptus (OLE) contains 71% more active repellent compound.
- Compared to 4% of that of unconverted OLE.
- CAMO® is 32x stronger than standard essential oils.
- Providing protection for up to 11 hours against common mosquitos (Culex).
Approved by ECOCERT
The ECOCERT approval is only given to raw materials that meet strict requirements regarding the origin of the material (e.g. not using GMOs, not endangering species) and the material must also meet strict criteria relating to processing of the material (e.g. use of starting materials with strict toxicity and biodegradability limits).
As a COSMOS approved ingredient, Citriodiol® can be used in end-use products which are to be certified as COSMOS natural or COSMOS organic.
