Camo® began with a bite—literally. When Will, one of our founders, set off travelling at just 19, he discovered he was allergic to DEET, the harsh chemical found in most insect repellents. What should have been an exciting adventure quickly turned uncomfortable. That experience sparked a question: why should staying safe outdoors mean compromising your skin or your health?

Back home, Will teamed up with his brother Ben. Both lifelong lovers of the outdoors—hikers, campers, surfers, and general fresh-air enthusiasts—they knew first-hand how important it is to feel protected in nature, without loading up on chemicals. They set out to create something better: a repellent that was tough on bugs but kind to skin and the environment.
